Who we are

Butterboy began amid the pandemic, at a time when everything felt uncertain. I have a 2-year-old daughter and have just given birth to our son. My husband was working from home, and we couldn’t go anywhere. With a newborn in my arms and needing something to keep my sanity, I turned to the one thing that had always brought me comfort — baking.

What started as a way to nurture my family soon grew into a passion for sharing sweetness with others. Butterboy Baking Co. is named in honor of my son, whose chubby, buttery cheeks brought smiles and cheer to our growing family.

At the heart of Butterboy are the flavors of home — the Philippines. I realized that I need to share my culture with my kids because I was afraid it will get lost as they are exposed to so many things. I didn’t know where to begin so naturally, food and desserts was my starting point. Every cream puff, cake, and pastry I make carries with it a piece of my heritage. It is now woven into the desserts that bring people together here in Queens, a place as diverse as the food we create.

Butterboy isn’t just a bakery. It’s a reflection of love — love for my family, love for my roots, and love for a community that embraces new flavors and stories.

With each bite, you’re not just tasting a pastry. You’re sharing in a journey of family, resilience, and a celebration of Filipino culture with a contemporary flair.
